Summerfield sits near the intersection of US 301 and CR 475A, and its identity as a retirement destination goes back to Del Webb’s Spruce Creek Golf & Country Club, an active 55+ community of 3,250 single-family homes across 1,064 acres, built out from 1996 to 2007 on a golf course dating to the 1970s. The community’s Eagle Ridge Golf Club offers 36 holes across four nine-hole courses, and Summerfield sits roughly 15 miles from Ocala. In other words: Summerfield is its own large, planned retirement community running alongside The Villages, not a suburb of it, which means it has its own dense concentration of the exact kind of single-family, zoned in-ground irrigation systems this business is built around.
