Fruitland Park had a 2020 census population of 8,325 across just 6.96 square miles, making it one of the more compact, established towns on our route, incorporated back in 1927 and nicknamed “The Friendly City.” Its main road is US 27/US 441, the only major thoroughfare through town. Fruitland Park also has a direct, sourced connection to The Villages’ own growth: The Villages of Lake-Sumter Inc. purchased property here in December 2013 for roughly $8 million, a development projected to bring about 2,038 new homes and around $13 million in impact fees and building permits to the city.

That means a real, identifiable share of Fruitland Park’s residential irrigation systems are tied to relatively recent Villages-style construction, alongside the town’s older, long-standing neighborhoods.
